Albania, most corrupted

Albania keeps regressing in the war against corruption. The public
administration has still corrupted officials and no one has ever been
punished by the law. Public institutions are not independent and the
public administration needs a deep reformation.

These were some of the main reasons that made Albania this year go 15 spots lower, since 2011, ranking 113th from 176 states that were part of the Transparency International.

““Transparency International” appealed the government’s leadership to take over the responsibility for the situation created in the country and reflect in a more rigorous way for the reformation of the public administration, the independence of institutions and the investigation of corruption. The impunity of high rank officials for corruption has decreased the public’s trust and has affected a negative perception for the weaknesses of the government and institutions regarding corruption investigation”, declared the TIA coordinator, Inesa Hila.

The lack of transparency has made “Transparency International” to ask the public institutions and the lawmaking agencies to implement tangible reforms in the war against corruption.

While Albania keeps falling in the list, Kosovo has progressed this year by climbing eight spots. Albania is the last in the region. After Albania there was Ethiopia, Guatemala and Nigeria, countries that are outside the EU standards.
