After a long process of negotiations, Albania was officially registered
as a member of the European Network of Transmission System Operators for
Electricity.
The General Secretary of this institution declared that Albania’s accession will increase its role in the European energy system.
“This is the first step for Europe to welcome a new member in the transmission network. This will give Albania a stronger voice in Europe’s energy system”, said Laurent Schmitt, General Secretary of ENTSO.
The profits are more economic, since this integration in the European market makes Albania trade energy with better prices.
“We will be able to receive energy with a better price from abroad. It also increases the security for supplying the region and the country”, said Engjell Zeqo, administrator of the Albanian Energy Transmission Operator.
