Social Media are changing the way how people communicate with each other, but also how governments chose to communicate with citizens.

Diplomacies throughout the world are constantly turning to social platforms to communicate with the people, as a new opportunity to achieve especially the objective of their foreign policy, to promote their country.

The so-called Twiplomacy or e-Diplomacy is seen as an extension of traditional diplomacy, with Twitter being their favorite tool. There are 260 personal accounts of world leaders and executives from 125 countries of the world, although there are only 30 world leaders who manage their own account.

Social network usage for this purpose has been on the raise in Balkan as well. A survey of Digital Diplomacy for 2016, listed Albania 43rd as regards the usage of this method, and number one in the region.

Albania is followed by Kosovo in 71st place, Serbia 94th, Macedonia 118th, Bosnia-Herzegovina 141st, Montenegro 144th.
