In the last 5 years, Germany has attracted from Albania about 5,000 medical staff, of which 1,500 were doctors.
This exodus of doctors towards Germany but also to other European countries is not expected to stop even after the salary increase of nearly 500 dollars which specialist doctors will receive from April, as the government notified.
Doctor Aurora Dollemnberg asks for more incentives for the new doctors, to stay and work in their country.
“The measures need apply to those starting the medical studies from scratch, not only to those who have just graduated,” said Dollemnberg.
In fact, the surveys of young doctors at the Faculty of Medicine, who are reportedly starting the German language course at the same time, shows that the monthly salary does not seem be a primary reason for consideration.
In order to stop this flight of young doctors, the Prime Minister has stated that he cannot pay for the education system to produce doctors for Germany, therefore mandatory sanctions will be applied.
The authorities say that the cost to train a doctor at the University of Medicine in Albania ranges from 12 thousand to 18 thousand dollars, therefore the measures require the protection of professionals in relation of their service within the country.
