An economic forum was held in the Czech Republic, with the participation
of Prime Ministers Sobotka an Rama, to give a new dynamics of economic
cooperation between the two countries.

“From January 2005 Albania has exported to the Czech Republic goods mounting up to 48.9 million EUR. The Czech Republic has exported to Albania 225 million EUR of goods. Most of the imports from the Czech Republic is on machineries. Most of the exports from Albania are minerals and consumption goods. However, it is clear that we have a huge and almost unexploited potential, and that today’s figures are unacceptable”, Rama said.

Rama considered the TAP pipeline as very important for Albania and the Czech Republic.

“Both our government are committed to increase the economic cooperation in other sectors of tourism, transportation, agriculture, energy or infrastructure. The major TAP project will increase the cooperation potential between our two countries”, Rama declared.

Prime Minister Sobotka said it is time to increase the economic cooperation.

“We have lost many years in the bilateral cooperation. I think that the current exchange is not proportional to the potentials that the Czech and Albanian markets have. Our economyc relations need a new impulse. I am convicned that the visit of Mr.Rama will help realize long-term cooperation projects between our countries”, Sobotka declared.

Rama was accompanied by Prime Minister Rama and Ministers Ahmetaj and Klosi.
