Albania celebrates today the 69th anniversary of liberation by
commemorating the thousands of young people who fought against the
Nazi-fascist occupation.

Same as in the past, November 29th started with homage at the Martyrs’ Cemetery. President Bujar Nishani, Prime Minister Edi Rama, Parliamentary Speaker Ilir Meta, Ministers, Socialist Parliament Members and allies of the Socialist Party, joined together to put wreaths on the “Mother Albania” memorial.

Parliament Speaker, Ilir Meta, together with Prime Minister Edi Rama, organized a commemoration activity by addressing to the families of those who gave their lives for the freedom of Albania. Meta declared that this day not only reminds us about the sacrifice of the dead, but it also make us to work harder for a better and more prosperous Albania.

Prime Minister Rama declared “the lives given in the Second World War speak to us every year on this day, not for war or peace, not for the clashes, but for the sacrifice. They’re not for division, but for unification. Not for death, but for life”.

Rama declared that this is a historic day in our country that needs to serve not only as a day of honors and celebrations, but also of reflection.
