The entire Albanian Diaspora throughout the world, today celebrates the Independence Day on November 28th.
106 years ago, Albania announced its independence from the Ottoman Empire, marking the day of the foundation of the modern Albanian state. The patriots led by Ismail Qemali chose November 28th for this day, the day when our national hero, Skanderbeg, liberated Kruja from the Turkish forces, in 1443.
Albanian citizens in Albania, Kosovo, Macedonia, Montenegro, Southern Serbia and the emigrants in Greece, Italy and many other countries, commemorate the National Day of Independence on this date.
