70 Austrian investors have arrived in Tirana with their President.
Austria is one of the five countries with the highest level of foreign
investments in Albania.
“We believe that the full potential of the trade relations between our countries has not been reached yet”, declared the Albanian Foreign Minister, Ditmir Bushati.
Bushati, whose Ministry has declared as priority the development of economic diplomacy, organized the meeting between the Austrian investors and some of the Albanian Ministers. He listed the series of measures taken by the Albanian government for improving the business climate.
“There is still much to do about attracting strategic austrian investments in Albania. The problematic of foreign and Austrian investments in our country are the focus of this government, which aims to improve the economic situation and create a healthier climate for attracting foreign investors, by fighting corruption, organized crime and economic informalities, and by addressing to property issues, by improving the tax and customs performance and by reforming the VAT reimbursement system”, Bushati declared.
Besides identifying a series of potential sectors for the Austrian investments in Albania, such as energy, infrastructure, environment and service, tourism remains a constant point of economic cooperation between the two countries.
“We are based on the types of tourism that we can evolve, such as cultural tourism, natural tourism, and agricultural tourism. The financial resources are modest, but we will try to see the opportunities of investors and donators that could help us with specific projects”, declared Minister Eglantina Gjermeni.
Besides the economic cooperation, in this meeting was valued the historic role of Austria in supporting Albania, and also the integration process of Albania.
