Albania is the country that has received fewer funds from the EU for transportation and energy.
Top Channel published official data for the investments that EU has funded in six Western Balkan countries from 1990 to 2017. These funds have been received as grants by the EU, or as soft loans from the European Bank of investments.
The country that benefited more investments is Serbia, which has received a total of 5.3 billion USD from the EU and EBRD. This money has been used for building roads, ports, railways and energy lines.
For the same period Albania has received 10 times less funds, just 500 million EUR for transportation and energy. All other countries of the region have received more.
Bosnia has received 2.4 billion EUR, Macedonia and Montenegro have received respectively 900 and 700 million EUR. Only Kosovo has received less than Albania, 300 million EUR. But the second Albanian state has started the EU integration process much later.
