The burning of urban waste in the Albanian tourist city of Vlora continues to be a concern for residents of the coastal city even in these cold and rainy November days.
Every day, firefighters are stationed in this area to isolate the fire and smoke that often activates in various collection of the field.
Friday evening and Saturday morning, influenced by the strong wind, the fires reignited a large area, causing problems for nearby residents, as the wind blowing from the north-west carried the toxic smoke towards the city. The municipality’s firefighters have not been able to extinguish the fire.
Residents of the Kushtrimi neighborhood express concern. They say that there is always smoke in their apartments and they cannot open the windows.
The situation remains alarming as no solution is being found to remove this waste from this area which, as firefighters say, is ‘a bomb’ that explodes each time.
