The riverbanks of the Shkumbin River are full of waste materials just before the tart of the tourist season.
The high flow of this winter brought to light the horrible pollution that our rivers are facing.
Environmentalist Ahmet Mehmeti raises an even bigger concern. This pollution has spread to water and land alike. The land close to the river is used for irrigation of our crops and vegetables, and enters our organism.
“It is scandalous. It shows what is happening with the treatment of urban wastes. The images speak for themselves”, the environmentalist says.
