The Chairman of the National Agency of Environment, Julian Beqiri, said
that air quality tests showed that pollution values dropped to normal on
“Car-Free” day, which proves that vehicles are the reason air in Tirana
is so polluted.
“On a normal day, the pm10n value was 61.03 micron per cubic meter. On the Car-Free day it was 36.7”, Beqiri declared.
Tirana might remain among the most polluted cities if no investment is made for road quality and public transportation.
Citizens in Tirana have it very difficult to circulate with bicycles due to the lack of special lanes.
