Two decades after thousands of girls and women in Kosovo were raped during the armed conflict, survivors are ready to take the much-awaited compensation, but only a few of them were convicted.
The international human right organization “Amnesty International” published a report in which they unfold the devastating physical and psychological consequences of sexual violence, while survivors are marginalized by the society and haven’t received enough support from the government.
The report notes that only one author has been sentenced by a Serbian court. International investigators, the report adds, have often failed to prosecute the criminals or to collect enough evidence against them.
