Amnesty International reacted again for the issue of the Roma people, who were evicted by their shacks.
“The Municipal and central government authorities did nothing to help them find another shelter”, AI states.
“The Roma families, some of them living in that area for the last 10 years, were evicted by force on August 7th”, the communication says.
AI writes that seven of eight buildings were demolished and the police did not answer to the request of the Ombudsman and the OSCE in Tirana to stop.
The General Chief of Police had also ordered the company to stop working on that site until they find a shelter to the Roma families.
Although not all the houses were demolished, the Roma have all abandoned the buildings, fearing to return there.
