A closed-door meeting is being held at the headquarters of the Italian anti-mafia between the Albanian Minister of the Interior Taulant Balla and the chief Italian anti-mafia prosecutor, where the latter has asked the Albanian side for a real and better cooperation.
“We have agreed on the details of a direct cooperation memorandum between the Albanian Police and the National Prosecutor’s Office to identify criminal networks where Albanian citizens are involved in international drug trafficking, with the principle of following the money. The Anti-Mafia National Prosecutor’s Office has an experience that will serve it”, Albanian minister Balla said.
The anti-mafia experience will come to Albania with the agreement on the extradition of persons hiding in the United Arab Emirates. And to start these extraditions as soon as possible from Latin America and other countries that we don’t have an agreement with, added Balla.
The officials said that the greatest power of crime is money and the topic of discussion in this meeting was the money that criminal groups deposit in Dubai, which then returns to Albania in the form of investments.
