The Albanian government and the World Bank have signed a 220 million EUR
loan agreement for the next years. The World Bank Director for Europe
and Central Asia, Laura Tuck, valued the commitment of the institution
she represents and the potentials of Albania for economic development,
and asked the government to continue with the structural and fiscal
reforms.
“The financial stabilization that you have started this year must continue in a mid-term. You need to continue with the structural reforms and bring the country forward, regardless the difficult choices that this requires”, Tuck declared.
For the Albanian side, the agreement is the end of a complicated relation and the start of a clos cooperation with the international partners.
“This is the moment for a closure, and for a new opening of a country that is leaving behind a period of transition and constant clashes with the shadows of the past. We are symbolically closing a cooperation chapter that has been sometimes very tense, often not intensive enough, and in many cases not effective enough. By signing this agreement, we open a new page in the a cooperation chapter with our international partners, in order to change and realize a radical transformation of the country”, declared the Albanian Prime Minister, Edi Rama.
Rama added that the formalization of economy has started giving its first signs.
