The Ministry of Interior and the Ministry of Transports signed an
agreement with insurance companies for reducing the number of
uninsured vehicles and for improving road safety Albania.
“We are listed among the countries with the highest number of accidents per total number of vehicles and per total population. We have chaos that brings consequences for our citizens’ health”, declared the Minister of Interior, Saimir Tahiri.
Based on this agreement, the citizens will be unable to finalize the obligatory technical inspection of vehicles without showing the insurance agreement.
“This will bring more order even for the technical inspection process”, declared the Minister of Transports, Edmond Haxhinasto.
The agreement instructs police to increase punishment on vehicles that circulate without the obligatory insurance agreement. A few weeks ago, the insurance companies increased the obligatory insurance fees, causing more vehicles to circulate without insurance, which increases the cost and makes it impossible for full compensation in case of accidents.
