Five years ago, same as Edi Rama today, Sali Berisha led an intensive
campaign to defend the law that allowed waste import. Today, a few days
after Lulzim Basha, the PM reeflected too and came with a “mea culpa”.
“I believe that I should have not done it. I did it because I was sure that we would control everything, since the importing rights would have been given through a government decision, for every specific case of import”, Berisha declared.
Berisha related his reflection with the lack of control in Customs, referring to the Rama government.
“But even in 2014, Albanian Customs have allowed 335.000 tons, against the law… I personally don’t believe that this could happen, but I cannot exclude it at 100%, that’s why I am reviewing my stance. Why am I reflecting on this? Because it is poison”, Berisha declared.
This is the second time that Berisha admits a mistake of his government. Same as in in 2008, when he admitted the mistake for allowing pyramid schemes, even this time the reflection comes just before the elections.
