Former Prime Minister Sali Berisha has decided not to accept yesterday’s decision of the Court of Appeal that left the seal of the Democratic Party with the faction led by rival Alibeaj, vowing to appeal to the Supreme Court before going to the European courts.
“The rule to send the case to the international court requires that the country’s levels be exhausted”, Berisha said today, complaining about corruption among the judges.
The decision of the Court of Appeal returned to zero the conflict for the leadership of the opposition Democratic Party, as those excluded must now share votes with Ilir Meta’s party, if they choose to join the collation.
In such a case, the candidates from the primaries of Berisha faction will have to run under the logo of a coalition, such as the “House of Freedom” on March 6, 2022, but in a completely different situation now the local elections of municipal councils.
If several parties entered the coalition, then they must submit a single list of candidates, while the Democrats must return the favor and give the political vote to the allies for the May 14 local elections.
