After Kosovo, Albania will also boycott the Nobel ceremony in Sweden, which si going to award Peter Handke, a supporter of Serbia’s former leader, considered the worst war criminal in Europe since WWII.
The acting Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Gent Cakaj, said that the justification of war crimes during the collapse of Yugoslavia cannot be rewarded.
“Deeply convinced that condoning or praising war crimes is an obstacle to the reconciliation spirit that should prevail in the region, we have ordered the Albanian Ambassador to Sweden to boycott the solemn Nobel ceremony that will award Peter Handke”, Cakaaj said.
“Any rewarding of personalities who have denied the genocide through their literary work only reinforces the tendency to avoid historic responsibilities and change the weight of war crimes, ethnic cleansing and genocide”, Cakaj declared.
