The tragic incident near the “Fan S. Noli” school in the center of the Albanian capital, shocked public opinion yesterday and has led to calls for increased security in schools as one of the measures to prevent violence among young people.
“I have heard that some children go to school armed. It is not about firearms, but armed with metal gloves, knives, etc., and there is no control over this”, says sociologist Gëzim Tushe.
“Children, adolescents are a plastic age, they are not grown to make the right decisions about their behavior, they act without thinking about what they do. And for this they are again not guilty, they are victims of society, their parents, their school and their teachers”, adds Tushe.
“Surprise checks on the children should be carried out in class or school. This is the responsibility of the school security officer. It is within his competence to control the entrances and exits to the school, even the possession of weapons.”
“Many parents tell us that their children do not feel safe in their schools, because many of their peers go with knives, with metal gloves in their bags, while the school does not know or is not aware. A teenager who commits a criminal act in his adolescence, imagine what can he do in adulthood?”, says Brunilda Laboviti, Clinical Psychologist, for Top Channel.
