2 youngsters from Shijak who tried to trade the drug in Tirana were handcuffed and the package of 1 kg of cocaine was seized yesterday.
The police suspects that the 2 youngsters received the cocaine from the wholesalers who bring it through the Port of Durrës from the countries of origin. The arrested Andrea Dema and Robert Domi had established connections with a network of small dealers in the central areas of Tirana, “Myslym Shyri”, “21 Dhjetori” and “Rruga e Durresit”.
The arrest of 3 young people has prompted the start of work to identify and arrest the entire network of distributors.
Minister of the Interior, Taulant Balla, requested the intensification of strikes against criminal groups that distribute drugs and requested that the police and authorities reach to their leaders.
“The State Police is attacking the networks of narcotics distributors, scoring concrete results, such as the recent actions in Tirana and Saranda. While I expect more results in the coming days, I repeat the necessity to go to the ‘heads’ of these criminal groups as soon as possible” – said Balla.
On the eve of the start of the new school year, the Minister of the Interior and the Minister of Education Kushi will present a detailed plan to increase security in schools.
“The public and every Albanian family expect the State Police to take more responsibility towards every young man and woman. Therefore, the State Police must make the destruction of the networks of drug dealers a top priority,” added Balla among other things.
