An African heat has spread in our country today, marking the hottest day
of July, with the temperature reaching 40 degrees Celsius.
“The 24 hours that we left behind marked 39 degrees in Gjirokaster and even in lower areas. Monday is one of the hottest days of July, with temperatures reaching 40 degrees”, declared Rezarta Xhakollari, meteorologist at the Military Meteorologic Service.
According to experts, July 30th and 31st will be cooler in the entire Balkan region, but only with 1 or 2 degrees.
“August 1, 2, and 3rd will still be very hot with temperatures reaching 38 degrees Celsius. We don’t expect changes in the atmospheric situation. On Tuesday and Wednesday there will be a change, with some precipitations especially in mountainous areas”, Xhakollari declared.
In these conditions doctors suggest the consumption of water to replace the liquid that the organism loses due to the heat. A special care should be made with children, senior citizens and people with chronic diseases, according to infection doctor Sabahet Dedja.
Doctors also advise people to not stay outside from 11:00 to 16:00, when the sun concentration is higher.
