British Ambassador in Tirana, Fiona Mcilwham, declared during a meeting
at the School of Magistrature that a strong and independent justice is a
condition for progressing in the EU.
She said that not only justice should be done, but is also must be seen.
“The rule of law is the foundation of the EU and United Kingdom values, the heart of a functional and successful democracy. A strong and independent judicial system is a request for Albania to progress towards EU membership”, she declared.
According to the British diplomacy, meritocracy, independence, professionalism and respect for the human rights are obligatory requests for any judge or justice system actor.
“The lack of each of them has a negative impact on the public’s trust to the justice system”, Mcilwham declared.
