This is what Lorik Cana is convinced about, a teasing thought for every Albanian who dreams of his national team playing on a European or World Cup Championship. Albania’s national team star revealed his dream to the French sport newspaper, “L’Equipe”, promising to give his best until the end of his career for this achievement.

Right before Albania’s 1-0 winning match against Belarus in the “Qemal Stafa” stadium, Lorik Cana gave an interview to the French sport newspaper, “L’Equipe”, revealing his ambitions on Albania’s football future. Albania’s national team vice captain dreams of playing in European or World Cup Finals before his career ends.
“This return match (against Belarus) is a real turning point, not only for playoffs position, but also to continue our battle of not concluding the tournament on the penultimate spot”, Cana was quoted some hours before the match.

According to “L’Equipe”, former Marseilles player expressed his conviction that after many years on last positions, Albanian national team will rise on the European hierarchy. “We used to be on the last pot, today we are on the penultimate. If we get 12 points in these qualifying matches, it will be possible for us to pass on the fourth pot. This would be wonderful”, Cana declared. “The more we rise on the pot list, the more chances will there be to achieve a big competition, and this is my dream”, says Cana, a dream that looks nearer after winning over Belarus.

The 27 year old Lorik Cana wants to believe on the possibility that one day his national team will be part of the big arena. “One day we will be there!” Cana loudly states. He hopes that more players should see it in his way as well; choosing to protect Albania’s colors, despite offers from bigger national teams. “Our players, especially those born in Kosovo, choose to play with other national teams, like Berhami (Fiorentina) or Shaqiri  (Bazel) who could have played with Albania’s national team, but preferred to accept the Swiss offer. These players, capably grown in other countries, should join us and do like I did, choosing Albania, which is my country”, the Albanian player adds.

After the glorious victory, Albania’s national team player also visited his birthplace, Kosovo. He was seen on Prizreni’s main square at 15:00. Although he owns an apartment in Tirana, where he also has many friends, Lorik Cana’s love for his birthplace remains strong. After the victory against Belarus, he stayed only one night in Tirana.
