Mimi Kodheli, Minister of Defense, declared today in Parliament that the
opposition has accused the Armed Forces by giving no evidence.
“The opposition has been saying for one week that they are aware of a horrible truth, but all they say is that the Minister is hiding information. You accuse without giving evidence, just saying that the military has been used by the drug traffic. This is ridiculous and cynical. The evidence should be brought by the accusers. You have no evidence about it and I am telling you that there is no evidence that the Armed Forces are implicated in the criminal acts you mentioned this week”, Kodheli declared.
“From September 2013 to today, there is no evidence to verify your accusations. You your concerns are about what happened before this, it is something that should be answered by the Prosecution. You are trying to throw mud against the government, but you are throwing mud against Albania. We will return dignity to the Army, and Albania will have its decent place in the NATO, where you had put our country in difficulties with your deeds”, the Minister added.
Kodheli underlined that these accusations will be investigated for understanding why did this game start. “I asked the Prosecutor General to investigate this accusation independently”.
“The military Secret Service, according to secure sources from the Armed Forces that hate the crime and the lies that are leading them, have informed that the traffic is going on in Gjader”, accused the former Prime Minister, Sali Berisha, after Kodheli’s speech.
The former Minister of Defense, Arben Imami, declared that the airplanes filled with drugs land in Fier, Gjirokaster and Divjaka the same way they land in Columbia.
“Don’t use pressure over the Prosecution. We are not attacking the Armed Forces. We are saying that the government has increased the drug traffic to the point that they are using the military infrastructure. Kodheli should answer if there is information for the drug and what measures have they taken, because the drug airplanes are landing in Fier, Gjirokaster and Divjaka as they land in Columbia”, Imami declared.
The Albanian Prime Minister, Edi Rama, guaranteed the opposition that the government has the good will to investigate these accusations.
“The Minister of Defense was very clear about this issue and we will investigate this accusation. Our will as a government to investigate these accusations is complete”.
By the end of the session, the Parliament passed the law for registering and inspecting sea vessels; the law for pardoning the administrative damages and fines, the law amend for the rights of prisoners and the law amend for issuing passports to Albanians in foreign countries.
