Academic Senate supports students’ strike

In an urgent meeting, the Academic Senate of the Tirana University
supported the students’ protest at the Economic Faculty against the
usurpation of the academic spaces.
The Senate asked the local and central institutions to take the necessary measures to protect the university territories from being damaged for other interests than educational.
“The Tirana University thinks that the solution to the territory usurpation must end once and for all. This is very important for creating the possibility that tomorrow we can bring better conditions to the new generations of students”, says rector Ervin Demo.
The Economic Faculty is still not operating and according to the Rectorate of the Tirana University, the academic year is in danger.
“The Economic Faculty has decided that the protest will continue. The entire academic activity has been suspended and the entire year will be at risk if there will be no answer”, Demo declared.
Students and professors of the Economic Faculty protest for days against the constructions that keep occupying their territories.
They asked the Tirana Municipality to start implementing the First Instance Court for repealing the construction permit.
