Albanian writer Bashkim Shehu wins Jury Award on “Prix Mediterrane Etranger” in France

Writer Bashkim Shehu after winning the literary prize “Balkanica”, and after being published in France, translated by Michel Obri, competed with his “Loja, shembja e qiellit”, book for the 2018 Mediterranean Award for foreigners.

The jury led by the French Academy member, Dominique Fernandez, gave him the Special Jury Award.

“Prix Mediterrane Etrange” is one of the most important literary prizes that is given each year in France for translated literature.

Other winners through the years have been Ismail Kadare, Umberto Eco, Jashar Kemal, Orhan Pamuk, Klaudi Magris, etc.

This year, this prize was given to the American writer “Daniel Mendelsohn”, winner of many other prestigious prizes, American and international, and one of the main contributors of New York Review of Books.
