This Tuesday at the National Museum was commemorated the 70th
anniversary of the February 4th massacre, when the Nazi, helped by the
Ballists (National Front of Albania), killed 84 people within one night.
Present in this ceremony was the Parliament Speaker, Ilir Meta, who said that this day should serve as a moment of reflection and review history and the role of the National Liberation War martyrs.
“Today is a homage for the 84 martyrs of February 4th, but also a day of reflection for us. This is the time to reflect and evaluate the values of the National Liberation Army. We are here today to revalue history and the damages done”, Meta declared.
Meta said that the dignity of this war need to be returned by restoring monuments and returning the “February 4th Martyrs” in a Tirana road, after it was removed.
“Today we feel sorry for these unforgivable acts that have taken place, such as the removal of the name of a street in Tirana. This is time to make justice and make a revaluation. I am happy that today we are with Prefect Vorpsi and the Head of the Municipal Council of Tirana, Mr.Dalipi. We hope to find a solution very soon and have a memorial with the names of the 84 martyrs of February 4th”, Meta declared.
Historian Paskal Milo underlined that the February 4th massacre should serve to see history as it is and avoid politically based deviations. According to Milo, we should not be scared to mention the names of the people who helped the Nazi in this massacre, although they were Albanians from Mitrovica and old Tirana citizens. We also should not be afraid to value Enver Hoxha’s contribution in the National Liberation Army, and condemn his mistakes.
