70% of roads built through debts

IMF and other international institutions warned the Albanian government
about the risk of debt increase, the major infrastructure projects will
continue to be financed by big debts.

“Shqip” newspaper informs that same as in the last years, the draft-budget of 2012 gives most of the funds to the Ministry of Transports.

This ministry will benefit 38.5 billion ALL, or 55.2% of the total public investments funds. The draft-law of 2012 provides that 32% of the public investments for this Ministry will have inner financing.

As for the roads, the budget provides 28 billion ALL, 70% of which will be secured by private banks, through debts.

These funds will serve mainly for the construction and rehabilitation of the 80 km of national roads, 2.2% of the total road network, according to the projection standards.

Another goal is the paving of 27 kilometers of national roads, valid for 0.7% of the total network.
