In Durres was commemorated today the 75th anniversary of the Albanian
Anti-Fascist Resistance, for those who died on that historic day.
Veterans, relatives of the martyrs and local government leaders have paid homage at the monument of Mujo Ulqinaku, to honor the memory of those who died for stopping the country’s invasion.
“75 years ago, Fascist Italy invaded Albania. The Albanian patriots fought with all they could. We were poor, but Albania was rich of idealistic men and women, and that was among the first anti-fascist resistances in Europe. We are thankful for all of these martyrs”, Vangjush Dako declared.
On April 7th, 1939, Fascist Italy invaded Albania from the Durres Port, but some Albanian forces fought against them.
The Parliament Members from the right wing were absent, although they were invited by the Municipality.
