For the first time, the elections in our country will be observed and
evaluated by an union of seven domestic non-government organizations,
which will now speak with one single voice, by coordinating their
information and expertise regarding the June 21st elections.
Although completely Albanian, the Electoral Chamber will cooperate with other foreign actors to exchange information and expertise regarding the electoral process.
“The Electoral Chamber of the civil society is projected as a platform for exchanging information between all actors who work for the elections, in order to have a quick reaction to election related crisis. The Electoral Chamber will make a traditional observation of the elections. This is a coordination platform of civil society representatives that gathers periodically during election time to analyze terrain information, to give early warnings of potential problems and recommendations to guarantee credibility in the electoral process”, Lutfi Dervishi declared.
This initiative has been supported by the Soros Foundation, in order to guarantee a serious and credible evaluation.
Andi Dobrushi, executive director of the Soros Foundation, underlined that the platform does not want to be a parallel platform to the international institutions who play the referee for the elections in Albania, but offers an alternative that has been missing. An alternative that does not stop only on the election day but that sees the electoral process in its entire cycle.
