The Special Court established in Kosovo to investigate possible crimes made by former KLA members is discrimination to Kosovo, said in an interview for Deutsche Judge Welle Wolfgang Schomburg, former Judge at the Court of Hague for war crimes in former Yugoslavia, which completed its mission with the sentence against former Bosnian Croat leaders.
“It is understandable that in some region there could be claims for specific cases, that are investigated in a local level. But I don’t understand why it is happening in Kosovo. It is discriminatory”, Schomburg said.
He considered the work of the International Court of Hague for War Crimes in former Yugoslavia as very successful. The court, according to him, showed how they were able to go against the bigger fish.
“We were able to try them. We worked with the testimonies that were collected in other process and we completed the mosaic. The sentence of Mladic and Karadjic was a great success”, he said.
The judge spoke about the demonstrative suicide of Slobodan Praljak, after receiving 20 years in prison. He said that an isolated incident cannot damage the image of the Court.
