A mafia-style execution has rocked the capital this morning. 66-year-old Behar Sulo Sofia from Berat, a resident of the Kombinat area in Tirana, was killed.
The serious incident happened around 09:00 in the morning, near the Pyramid, on the boulevard by the river Lana.
It is learned that the victim was caught by at least two bullets. It is suspected that the perpetrator(s) executed him with a silencer weapon as no shootings were reported. At the time of the crime, the victim was walking on the sidewalk.
The name of the victim has been mentioned several times in some of the biggest criminal events in Albania.
Sofia is known to the police as a person involved in criminal drug activities. He had several identities and was previously arrested along with Abdulselam Turgut on charges of drug trafficking from Turkey to Albania.
In 1998 he was arrested on behalf of the Turkish authorities on charges of international heroin trafficking.
He is also known as the owner of several businesses near the Dinamo Stadium area in Tirana and has had conflicts in the past, which may explain previous explosive attacks on his businesses.
