6.4 billion EUR of drugs seized in 2014

The Minister of Interior said that it’s not enough that the crime organizations have received a huge financial hit, but the real question is where did this money go each year.

“If this drug could have reached the market, its value would have been 6.4 billion EUR.  This is a number that leaves each of us speechless. The natural question is where has this money gone in the past. I have an answer. With this money was used by the crime world to corrupt the judiciary and even politics”, Tahiri declared.

The US Ambassador, Alexander Arvizu, declared that the fight against drug was all about political will, not a technical issue, as he was been told before.

“Lazarat was one of those things that was mentioned as a problem that could not be resolved. When I asked them why it could not be resolved, I never received an answer. After some time I understood that it was an issue of political will, not a technical one. We must appreciate the fact that all of this was done without any life lost”, Arvizu declared.

Albania received help from the Italian Guardia di Finanzia to locate the drug parcels from air.

“39 flights have identified 800 plantations, besides that of Lazarat. The Albanian police intervened in all of them, and the data was true for 770 of them. This mission monitored Lazarat and thanks to it the Albanian police was able to go to the right locations”, declared the Italian Ambassador, Massimo Gaiani.

2214 drug parcels have been destroyed in the past six months. 530.177 plants of cannabis were destroyed and more than 101.7 tons of marijuana were siezed. 41 criminal groups were destroyed and 1058 people were taken under arrest. Nine local government leaders were taken under investigation.
