After planting trees around the Tirana Artificial Lake and the Farka
Lake, the “Parks and Recreation Agency” moved to the Kashar Lake.
The Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, said 500 trees will be planted around the Kashar lake, part of the “Orbital Forest” project.
The Mayor asked local residents to take care of the trees, as he presented a new project which invites citizens to dedicate a tree to their loved ones, by increasing this way green public spaces and help improve the air quality.
Veliaj said Tirana’s urbanization brought 200.000 cars in a 1 million people city. The only answer is increasing green spaces and encouraging citizens to use bicycles or public transportation options.
“January was among the cleanest months. To preserve this, it is important to keep planting 2 million new trees, which will be part of Tirana’s green crown, also known as Orbital Forest”, Veliaj said.
