The “Drino” operation, an international effort which united border security and anti-traffic experts from nine Europol countries, was completed with the detention of 50 people who have crossed international borders illegally.
“The entire operation helped us make interviews with refugees and also identity traffickers. We revealed significant data about international traffic routes, based on their phone contacts”, said Anton Travner, Head of the Geneva Centre for the Democratic Control of Armed Forces.
Nine patrols of police officers from Albania, Austria, Bosnia, Croatia, Moldavia, Montenegro, Macedonia, Serbia and Slovenia worked to survey and manage the border in a coordinated method.
