41 kg and 700 grams of heroin were seized today during a major police operation in Tirana, while a 31-year-old man from Fushë Kuqe, near Lac in northern Albania, was arrested.
The police said that after securing the information that a large amount of heroin narcotic substance was being transported in a “Mercedes” type vehicle, they located the suspect vehicle and pursued it, managing to stop it near the airport in Tirana.
During the search of the Mercedes, a box with 62 packages containing heroin was found in the trunk, which were seized as material evidence, along with the vehicle and some cutting tools.
Narcotics investigation specialists at the Tirana Local Police Directorate, in cooperation with the Prosecutor’s Office of the Tirana Judicial District, said that investigations continue to identify other persons involved in the criminal activity of the large quantity of drugs.
