The former Prosecutor of Kruja, Haxhi Giu, was sentenced today to four
year in prison over corruption charges. After two postponed sentences,
the Court of Serious Crimes had decided to apply an accelerated trial.
Giu had requested to be released with the argument of having health problems. The Court established a group of experts to verify the claim.
The former Prosecutor, now a defendant, asked for an accelerated trial which would avoid normal trial.
Giu was accused of corruption together with Aleks Shpori. They had requested 10.000 EUR to facilitate the legal situation of Shpori’s brother. Shpori was sentenced to two years in prison.
