The traffic police in Gjirokaster stated that 35 people have been
arrested in December for driving without a license, many of them under
age.
Police has seized several vehicles and is taking administrative measures. The Head of this sector in Gjirokaster, Artan Osmani, says that these measures have helped preventing road accidents.
Last year, according to the traffic police officials, only 20% of the fines were paid within the year. This year it goes to 60%.
However, hundreds of drivers have made complaints about the payment mechanism. Several citizens have appealed the fines that have been given with their absence.
