Since January, 1.4 million foreigners have visited Albania, and 300,000 of them have chosen the capital, Tirana, as their destination.

The number of foreigners visiting the capital has increased this year. They stay not only in hotels, but also in apartments.

Curiosity and cheaper prices are the main reasons that bring them here. Top Channel has met some of them, a group of Dutch students, who were attracted by the city.

The young tourists from Amsterdam say that although they don’t get what Albanians song lyrics are telling, they sound very joyful and full of positive feelings.

They like the traditional coffee, drinks and the fact that many speak English, making it easier for them to communicate.

“It’s cheaper than in Amsterdam. We are students and we don’t want to spend too much. A coffee here is 0.5 EUR, in Amsterdam I would pay 3 EUR for that”, says Ayra Gerlach, a tourist.

These students will stay for two weeks in Albania. Two nights in Tirana and then they will travel to the famous southern beaches.

The Director of Tourism at the Tirana Municipality says that they are not the only ones doing so.

“There are 300,000 foreign tourists visiting Tirana. The number grows each year more. There are more people who stay for more than two days”, said Mirela Kocillari, Director of Tourism at the Tirana Municipality.
