The Gjirokaster Prosecution has sent for trial 30 citizens from Lazarat,
charged with illegal cultivation, production and sale of narcotics.
This was the third group of persons who are being tried. In total they
are 86.
Many prosecutors are involved in the investigation of Lazarat, five of whom from Gjirokaster, two from Permet and Fier, and three from the Prosecution General.
All defendants are also being investigated for money laundering, traffic of narcotics, and attack with firearms against the police. In June 2014, the police entered Lazarat for blocking and seizing Marijuana. During the operation they were attacked by armed groups. Thankfully, the operation concluded without victims.
