The German government has given a 3.5 million EUR grant to finalize the
second phase for protecting the International Reservation of the Prespa
Lake Biosphere.
The Minister of Environment, Lefter Koka, and the German Ambassador, Helmut Hoffman, signed an agreement that starts now and ends in 2020.
“Nature and culture are important bases of economic development in this region. Agriculture, fishing, cattle and forests are very important. Losing the biodiversity means having very negative consequences. Nature in the region of Prespa can be protected effectively if Albania, Greece and FYROM cooperate with each other”, Hoffman said.
“The investments have helped to soften poverty in the area and have a qualitative administration that cooperates with both agencies”, said the Minsiter of Environment, Lefter Koka.
The Minister of Environment was asked for deforestation, and said that the only measure to stop the forest massacre is a moratorium.
