A 28-year-old man from Fier was arrested today by the police in Saranda in the southwest of Albania, after he was caught transporting illegal immigrants with his vehicle.
The citizen with the initials E.S was arrested for illegaly transporting 33 immigrants, who were going to cross illegally to the EU countries, in his pickup truck, against payment.
The citizen was caught red-handed during the operation by the services of the Sarandë Police Station, in the place called Ura e Çukas, transporting immigrants.
His vehicle was seized as material evidence.
The procedural materials were passed to the Prosecutor’s Office at the Saranda Judicial District Court, for further action, for the criminal offense “Aiding illegal border crossing”.
The authorities said that they will not tolerate irregular movements of foreigners without documentation to stay in Albania.
