22 year old mother and newborn die in hospital

Lorena Imeri, 22, from the Shullaz village in Kurbin, died today from
cardiac complications at the Lezhe hospital. She was pregnant on her
ninth month and complications took her life, and the baby was unable to
survive.

Her relatives sent her urgently at the Lac hospital, but there were no specialized doctors. Then they sent her at the Lezhe maternity hospital.

The Lezhe hospital doctor explains the problems they had with the patient.

“Obstetric doctors decided for a surgery. She had a severe cardiac complication, a heart arrest and pulmonary edema, Surgeons were unable to start the operation due to the state of the patient”, declared the Director Llesh Marku.

Relatives accuse doctors of neglecting and causing the death of the 22-year-old.

Relatives came to the morgue to retrieve the body and continue with the funeral at 16:00, but the coroners delayed them and turned their wait into a protest.

They asked explanations, and after insisting the doctors gave the body away, while the results are expected a few days after.
