After naming 2018 as the Year of Skanderbeg, due to the 550th death anniversary of Albania’s National Hero, historians mention another date that should be considered for this year.
“We need to commemorate the image of Ismail Qemali. His 100th anniversary of death will be on January 24th, 2019. This year also marks the 75th anniversary of Edith Durham, the undeclared queen of Albanians. We also need to commemorate the contribution of the partisans at Antonio Gramshi’s battalion”, said Dorian Koci, a historian.
While some of the culture institutions are being rebuilt, the main building of the National Museum continues to have several problems, including heating, which makes it hard for displays in this time of year.
