Crime against private property remains the greatest concern for the investigators of criminal acts.
Regardless the many successful police operations in Tirana, house breakings, stolen cars and shops remain very problematic.
In the first six months of 2011 there have been 524 thefts, according to Tirana Police statistics. The greatest part, 207 of the crimes are in car thefts, only 22 of which have been solved. Second in the list are bar and business premise thefts, with 188 stolen objects, 65 of which were solved.
On the third place are housebreaks. In the last six months, 129 houses were robbed in Tirana, with the Police solving 62 of the cases. Concerning remain the numbers of armed robbery, with a total of 63cases. 25 of these have had violence included, 16 under the threat of a weapon, 19 property destruction and three extortions. Tirana Police declares that the number of thefts on the streets has decreased, after police added the patrols.
Tirana Police has presented the measures that will be taken for the summer season, in order to prevent crimes. All police districts were ordered to keep under surveillance the elements with criminal tendencies.
