Dervish Ali’s towers in the village of Dukat in Vlora in the southwest of Albania, a main tourist attraction in the area are an important cultural monument but left in disintegration.

This symbolic building has been erected more than 200 years ago and every year it is falling into disrepair, as it has not been maintained by the local authorities.

The residents of Dukat village say that there are many tourists who come to visit it, but the residents themselves feel bad and ashamed to accompany them to that tower, which was once the pride of the area.

Malo Alickaj, a resident of the village of Dukat, says that “the building has been the pride of the area for what it carries, but it is sad when you see it in this ruined state”.

The roof of the ancient tower has fallen, the floor as well, while climbing it is dangerous as the wooden boards are rotted and there is no longer even the entrance gate, which was once beautifully decorated and the first welcoming presentation for the tourists.
