One day before the start of the ceasefire in the grave conflict in Gaza, an airplane shell in the middle of the day caused the death of several people, including Ibrahim Jaber, born in Tirana, holder of an Albanian passport.

His brother Ahmed, who has been alone in Tirana for three weeks, had no information about Ibrahim. But he has now received the terrible news of the loss of his 20-year-old brother.

Interviewed by Top Channel’s Muhamed Veliu, Ahmed tells the circumstances under which his brother lost his life.

“Dad was ill with his leg. It was very bad. The brother went out to buy the medicine but never came back. There was no news about him for five days, then a ceasefire began. People started asking each other until they found out that he had lost his life. I am now empty because my soul is lost. Not only was he the brother, but we were together all the time.”

In such conditions, with his brother taken away by the war, Ahmed Jaber says that his heart and soul are in Gaza with the hope of an imminent peace.

“I can’t wait for the war to cease. I want to meet my family, to hug my mother. To go to my brother and say goodbye to him at least. I could not hug him before burying him. I wanted to bury him myself, but I was far away and this is very difficult.”

Ibrahim, along with his Palestinian father Abdullah, Albanian mother Albina and brother Jakob, were supposed to return to Albania on October 9.

But they were trapped in Gaza as a result of the start of the war on October 7. After the Top Channel interview of Abdulla Jaber, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs contacted him, through our embassy in Egypt, to offer him the evacuation from Gaza together with his family.

But Abdullah, in another interview for Top Channel, explained that he could not leave his elderly mother and sister behind. The war did not spare the boy’s life.
