More than 2.2 tons of cannabis have been seized in Durres while trying
to cross the Albanian border to Italy, hidden in a truck loaded with
furniture.
The cannabis in the truck was found during a routine inspection before entering the “Bridge” ferry of the Durres-Bari line.
According to the police, 50 packages of cannabis were hidden in every one of the 45 pieces of furniture. The entire quantity mounts up to 2250 kg.
The Police have arrested the truck driver, a Macedonian citizen named Aco Nikolovski, 41, resident of Skopje, who is now charged with drug traffic.
Police is working to find other names involved in this international traffic.
